Noteworthy assistance from neighbors for the talk on waste recycling (08/01/2019)

The talk was attended by a representative of ECOEMBES with whom the City Council signed the agreement to deal with recycling

Last week a talk was held in Pliego raising awareness about the importance of recycling in search of economic and environmental sustainability.

In the new era of the circular economy, waste has ceased to be considered waste: waste that the City is obliged to collect and manage with the consequent cost for municipal coffers.

Today, thanks to technology and the separate recovery of waste, 40 plastic bottles can be converted into a fleece and 80 cans on the rim of a bicycle.

By virtue of the extended responsibility of the producer and the agreement signed with ECOEMBES, the municipality receives financial compensation for all the waste of metal, brick, plastic and paper containers that are deposited in the 22 yellow and 17 blue containers in different points. Township.

Since the Municipality of Pliego has recycling bins, its neighbors can collaborate so that the materials from which light packaging waste and paper / cardboard are made can be used as secondary raw materials for the manufacture of new products.

This and how to separate properly was discussed for more than an hour in the emblematic room of the Tinajas of our City Council.

There was an interesting turn of questions with questions about recycling and packaging waste management, sent by ECOEMBES, Nuria Espinosa.

In the talk it was clarified that the yellow container is a packaging container and not just plastic, as is commonly believed.

Nothing that is not a container residue must be deposited in it.

Likewise, it was said that metallic containers such as drink cans, preserves, plates ... etc and beverage briks are also deposited in this container.

At the end, the Mayor, Mr. Pedro Noguera Rubio and the Councilor for the Internal Regime, Finance, Development, Police and Social Services and First Deputy Mayor Mrs. Maravillas Martinez Cifuentes distributed among the attendees yellow bags to facilitate the separation of packaging waste, not before reminding the neighbors how essential is the participation of citizens when it comes to recycling.
