The Ministry of Water, Agriculture and Environment has concluded the drafting of projects for modernization and optimization of the Community of Irrigators of Pliego.
In the next days he will tender the drafting of optimization projects in sector 1 (Huerta high) and modernization of the sector 2 (Huerta low).
The Minister Adela Martinez-Cacho, accompanied by the general director of Water, Andres Martinez, met with the mayor of Pliego, Ramona Jimenez, and representatives of the irrigators of the town.
Martinez-Cacho said "it is necessary that irrigators Pliego put in place as soon as possible a global project optimization and modernization of its garden, since it is the foundation of the town's economy."
The total value of the works is 13.8 million euros and will be financed entirely with funds FEADER, with an execution period estimated at 16 months.
The overall objectives of the projects are incorporating irrigators to new technologies, irrigation control via the Internet, integrated management with mobile devices, installing an ATM water, the introduction of capacitive probes for rational resource use and optimize existing infrastructure with the aim of reducing cost and implementation of energy efficiency.
The Community of Irrigators Pliego is set for a total of 1,414 villagers, irrigators 'Huerta Alta' and 'Huerta Baja', which officially join the General Assembly to be held on 30 April.
The total area is 782 hectares spread over 4,060 plots.
The predominant crops are almond, olive, apricot and citrus.
The origin of the water resources of that community rather well Eels, the Tajo-Segura and reclaimed water by the station Wastewater Pliego.
The total volume available for irrigators Pliego is 3,629,359 cubic meters.
