Pliego will participate in the European project for young people "Global education begins in your town" (20/04/2018)

Learning processes for young people will be carried out in terms of gender equality, sustainable communities and production and responsible consumption

Pliego has been one of the 6 municipalities included in the European program for young people "Global education begins in your town".

This international project has a duration of three years and is funded by the Europe Aid program of the European Commission, where entities from countries such as Spain, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Austria, Slovenia and Lithuania participate.

The general objective of the project is to promote the commitment of European citizens to take an active role in the face of the challenges of the interdependent world in which we live, based on the awareness and critical understanding of their bidirectional relations with the problems of global development.

The focus of this project is to address the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known as the Global Objectives, which are a universal call for action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people Enjoy peace and prosperity.

Through different coordinated actions within the program and promoted from the Juvenile Information Point of Pliego, the understanding of the interconnection between the developing countries and the European Union in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) will be promoted. influencing issues of gender equality, sustainable communities and responsible production and consumption among European citizens living in small towns in participating countries.

In addition, it seeks to raise awareness among citizens in small towns, and especially among young people, of the local and global dimensions of the SDGs, promoting new approaches and methodologies to involve young people in global issues, particularly through the use of Pop culture

And it also aims to develop the capacity of youth responsible localities to implement a quality global learning process with local communities and especially with young people.

The mayor of Pliego, Pedro Noguera, has celebrated the achievement of this project and congratulated the municipal workers involved to attract this project that "intends to involve and involve the network of entities and associations of Pliego, offering a wide range of possibilities tremendously for the youngest population through activities and training actions financed by the EU in coordination with Cazalla Intercultural and in collaboration with the City Council of Pliego until the year 2020. "
