Martinez-Cache announces the upcoming tender for the drafting of optimization projects and modernization of the Community Irrigation Specification (07/08/2015)

The Minister of Water, Agriculture and Environment, Adela Martinez-'Cachá, met with the president of the Community Irrigation Pliego, Marin Jimenez, to address the needs of the irrigators of the municipality.

Martinez-Cacho said "it is necessary that irrigators Pliego put in place as soon as possible a global project to optimize and modernize its vegetable garden, since it is the foundation of the town's economy."

"In the coming days are going to tender the drafting of optimization projects in sector 1 (high vegetable) and modernization of the sector 2 (low orchard)," said the minister.

The head of Water, Agriculture and Environment also said that since February 2015, technicians have been collecting information about the needs and problems of the new Community of Irrigators for the implementation of the new development.

The approximate amount of the projects to draw is 8 million euros, financed by 63 percent EAFRD.

The deadline for implementation of the projects is estimated at 16 months.

The meeting was also attended by the mayor of Pliego, Ramona Jimenez, and the president of FECOAM, Santiago Martinez, both very interested, too, in the need for the Community Irrigation Pliego improve their conditions.

The overall project objectives are: incorporation of new technologies irrigators, irrigation control via the Internet, mobile devices with integrated management, water cashier, implementation of capacitive probes for a rational use of resources, optimize existing infrastructure in to reduce costs and implement energy efficiency.

The Community Irrigation Pliego conform a total of 1,414 villagers, irrigators 'Huerta High "and" Low Huerta', and a total area of ​​782 hectares spread over 4,060 plots.

The origin of the water resources of that community is well Eels, the Tajo-Segura, reclaimed water from the Waste Water Pliego.
