The President of the Autonomous Community, Ramón Luis Valcárcel, opened today in the town of Pliego Public Park "Las Cañadas", for cultural, sports and leisure, and has involved an investment of more than one million euros the Community.
Valcárcel, accompanied by the mayor of Pliego, Isabel Toledo, and the Minister of Public Works and Planning, José Ballesta, toured the facilities of this new recreation area, located in the Barranco de las Cañadas, to "become a major point of coexistence of all citizens of all ages, and regularly hosts cultural events and sporting events, "said the president.
The new recreation area for residents of Pliego has a total area of 21,700 square meters and has an outdoor amphitheater with capacity for a thousand people and thought to hold the shows presented during the celebration of festivities of the locality.
In the same area has been converted into a botanical garden with native and Mediterranean, called 'Park of the Essence', and a large seating area of 1,770 square meters with a fountain and large planters.
Furthermore, in the southern part of the play area has built a multi-purpose sports court of 710 square meters, equipped with stands for 350 people, and various tracks of traditional games such as bocce and bowling.
The area also has a playground and some picnic areas equipped with barbecues and public.
The construction of new park 'Las Cañadas' has meant a total investment of 1,320,000 euros by the regional government, of which 990,000 have been provided by the Ministry of Public Works and Planning, and 330,000 euros by the Department of Presidency and Public Administration.
