The wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) of Pliego will work with a new advanced tertiary treatment, using ultrafiltration membrane technology, with a capacity to treat up to 1,500 cubic meters per day.
This new system will allow farmers in the area to take advantage of some of that water for irrigation.
This project, which involved an investment of more than 300,000 euros, has been completed with the general rehabilitation of the electrical installations of the WWTP, and the automation of the same.
The managing director of the Sanitation and Wastewater Treatment Plant of the Region of Murcia (Esamur), Joaquín Ruiz, who visited the municipal wastewater treatment plant together with the City Council of Pliego Maravillas Martínez, commented that "this station serves 4,168 equivalent inhabitants ", and recalled that" the Pliego WWTP joins the network of treatment plants in the region, which provide irrigators with about 100 cubic hectometres of purified water, which represents a quarter of the total water that is reused for agriculture at the national level ".
