In compliance with the programming of the Campaigns and Operations of Surveillance and Control for the year 2018, carried out by the General Directorate of Traffic, from December 10 to 16, a new Special Campaign on the control of the rate will take place. of alcohol and the presence of drugs in drivers.
Alcohol is present as a concurrent or trigger factor in one third of fatal accidents.
Your presence in driving depending on your rate, multiplies between 2 and 15 the risk of suffering an accident.
The only safe rate is 0.0%.
Not only is it related to greater accidents, but it also has an impact on increased mortality, as it is a factor linked to a worse prognosis in the injuries suffered.
Driving after the consumption of psychoactive substances is a frequent occurrence in Spain, cannabis (THC), cocaine, amphetamines and methamphetamines are the most frequently found substances.
The simultaneous consumption of substances, which has been demonstrated as a behavior of extreme road risk, is comparatively frequent in Spain.
Regardless of the effect on drivers, alcohol also poses a risk to the rest of road users (such as pedestrians), as users of the roads that share public space with others, mainly in urban areas, which makes the participation of all Local Police in the present Special Campaign extraordinarily important.
For all the above, the Local Police Pliego, will proceed to control the rate of alcohol and drugs to drivers in the urban area of the municipality.
