How and when to close the virtual office (30/03/2020)

The Holistic Concept's wellness experts warn of the risk of spending more hours than usual during quarantine work.

To avoid this, they recommend carrying out a labor detox establishing routines and ordering the day.

Quarantine and unlimited digital access has increased the number of hours spent working remotely.

Given this reality, the wellness professionals of The Holistic Concept, give guidelines to end the endless working hours and increase motivation and productivity.

"Staying balanced in this moment of hyperconnectivity and exponential technological growth has become a priority. Quarantine exposes us more than ever to the digital world and in order to perform we must disconnect. Establishing routines can help us carry out all our tasks, personal and professional, dedicating a period of time also to the practice of wellness, "says Carla Sánchez, wellness expert and co-founder of The Holistic Concept.

Create routines and set a schedule

It is important to establish a schedule with the time that will be dedicated to each activity during the day, whether professional or personal.

Getting work done and being connected to the digital world is not incompatible with spending time on personal and home care, cooking healthy and balanced menus, doing stretching, sports or relaxation exercises at home, reading a book, watching a movie or take a relaxing shower.

In fact, the time spent disconnecting is essential to be able to perform and increase productivity when working.

Close the virtual office at the end of the day

It is very important to turn off the computer, after the workday is over, to avoid looking at last minute emails.

As much as possible, non-urgent matters should be settled for the following day.

To do this, disabling notifications from email and internal messaging applications is helpful.

Turn off the phone at least two hours before going to sleep and don't turn it on until the next day.

The Holistic Concept recommends disconnecting from eight o'clock in the afternoon to reduce anxiety foci and calm the oversaturation of information that is received on a daily basis and keeps the brain too busy.

After that time, it should be a priority to spend our time communicating with our family and friends, cooking, reading, watching a movie or series, in short, avoiding ourselves.

It is essential to remove from the bedroom any device that can receive notifications, emails or messages and retrieve the traditional alarm device or activate airplane mode.

Going to bed is a ritual.

Rest habits must be ordered.

It is important to carry out a relaxation routine before going to bed.

According to wellness experts, it is advisable to soften the lighting with candles or indirect lights, take a warm shower before bed and try to eat early and light to promote sleep.

Guided relaxations are a good tool to disconnect from work.

An audio-guided relaxation can be the best ally to prepare the brain for this work detox.

"In many occasions it is difficult for us to disconnect and take our mind to a single place, where we abstain from day to day. Therefore, an audio with guided relaxation can help us achieve this to recharge energy," says Carla Sánchez.

In the face of the crisis caused by the coronavirus in our country, the platform specialized in stress management offers free access to its more than 100 contents, in video and audio format, with the aim of helping the user to disconnect, stay calm, release tension and clear the mind of negative thoughts.
