The president of the Autonomous Chamber has toured this morning the Argaric site, with the mayors of Pliego, Pedro Noguera Rubio, and Mula, Juan Jesús Moreno García, and the team of archaeologists working on the preservation and enhancement of La Almoloya, Pliego-Mula, headed by Vicente Lull Santiago
The discoveries made in the settlement, from the beginning of the interventions in 2013, within the framework of the Project 'La Bastida', reveal that La Almoloya was a political-administrative center of concentration of first-rate wealth within the political territory of El Argar .
Known as the first European Parliament, in this nerve center, about fifty thousand leaders and political representatives met four thousand years ago to make government decisions that affected thousands of people in the southeast of Spain.
The president of the Chamber, formed in Geography and History, has been interested in the valuable pieces found in this settlement, as well as the different spaces that make it up, including a palatial building and dozens of graves with offerings, and has highlighted that " La Almoloya is an unprecedented discovery, a reference of archeology in Spain, with an incalculable heritage, cultural and educational value.
This site is an opportunity for the advancement of scientific knowledge and the revitalization of tourism, with a unique offer.
It is a jewel of our heritage that we have to take care of so that its value becomes a reality ".
For his part, the person in charge of the working group, Vicente Lull, insisted on "the necessary institutional and financial support to give the definitive impulse of this project.
So far, the Autonomous University of Barcelona and Cefusa, of the Fuertes Group, have collaborated with us. "
It is worth noting that the entrepreneur José Fuertes has joined the Argaric route of La Almoloya in representation of it.
Among the main actions to be developed in La Almoloya are the excavation of the subsoil of the urban grid to investigate the origins of Argaric settlement in Murcia and the political structure of El Argar;
the conditioning of external accesses to the site and the planning of visit itineraries, among others.
