The Ministry of Presidency, through the Directorate General of the European Union and Foreign starts tomorrow 'I, 2014 European citizens' campaign with the aim to inform citizens of their rights and responsibilities associated with citizenship of the Union as well as the importance of the European Parliament, the decisions taken at this institution and its impact on our daily lives.
This information initiative, which coincides with the holding of elections to the European Parliament, aims to inspire a sense of active citizenship among young people and be able to increase their participation in shaping the European Union's future.
To do this, cultural and leisure activities, such as debates, roundtables, workshops, conferences and cultural activities in the municipalities of the region will be organized in order to give an overview of how we have benefited from better services and infrastructure, both municipal as regional and national since we are part of the EU and how it is reflected in our daily lives.
In addition, under the slogan 'Meet EU, know your rights', talks to publicize what the EU is, what their main institutions (Commission, Council and Parliament elections ...), its treaties, will be developed and actions are programs of the European Union in the region.
The campaign will begin tomorrow Blanca, where the Director General of the European Union and Foreign Carmen Sandoval, and Mayor White, Rafael Laorden, will open (at 09:30 pm, at the Miguel Angel Fernandez Abenza Cultural Center) the information day of the 'I, 2014 European citizen' municipal campaign.
'I, European citizen' will be held in different cities throughout the year, including The Union Lorquí Mule Abarán, Pliego and San Pedro del Pinatar.
'We are Europe'
For 'I, European citizens' campaign will be available to councils documentary 'Us Europe', with the testimony of a group of citizens of the region about their experience in relation to European policies, institutions and the exercise of the rights recognized in the Statute of the European Union.
In addition, technical staff of the Department may issue a series of conferences with more information on specific policies and European programs (picture of the status of citizen of the Union mobility programs for young people, digital information sources on EU environment , etc.)
The campaign was completed with a mobile classroom, which seats 12 people, and in which the Ministry will provide technical information on the European Union, its institutions and policies as well as informative material.
This classroom has a screen that can be viewing videos for both adults and children about the European Union.
More Actions
During 2013, declared "European Year of Citizens', the Ministry, through the center of Europe Direct Murcia, launched the 'I, European citizens' campaign to spread and highlight the rights attaching to citizenship of the Union.
Its success has allowed the host to continue this initiative in the municipalities of the region.
