On the occasion of the commemoration of the 500th anniversary of the creation of the parish of St. James of Pliego, the Bishop of the Diocese of Cartagena, Mons. José Manuel Lorca Planes, granted this parish celebrating a Jubilee Year which began Santiaguista September 1 last year and will close this coming Sunday, September 7.
Throughout the year, numerous groups have made pilgrimages to Pliego to gain plenary indulgences, participating in the jubilee events that began each day at 11:30 am in the chapel of Our Lady of Remedies and from where pilgrimage walk to the parish of St. James, to participate in the Mass of the Pilgrim.
The pastor of Pliego, D. Angel Soler, said that this year has been "a very good experience for everyone;
because those who have visited us have known our people, our history, traditions and values.
A year to thank God, the Virgin of the Remedies and St. James. "
At 7:00 pm on Sunday will celebrate Mass in the courtyard of the shrine of the Virgen de los Remedios, and then transferring the image of the patron parish church to be performed.
And at 20:00 pm, the Bishop of Cartagena preside at Mass in which he will close the Jubilee Year Santiaguista and the act of canonical coronation of the Virgen de los Remedios is performed.
